Karlijn van Houwelingen

is correspondent in de Verenigde Staten (standplaats: New York) voor onder meer het Algemeen Dagblad, Het Parool, VPRO’s Bureau Buitenland en De Morgen. Ze schreef Dit Is Amerika, in januari 2020 verschenen bij uitgeverij Hollands Diep en genomineerd voor de Brusseprijs voor het beste Nederlandstalige journalistieke boek. In het najaar van 2023 verscheen Komt Een Olifant Bij De Rechter bij uitgeverij Murrow, een boek met dierenverhalen uit New York.

is a New York-based US correspondent for Dutch and Belgian media, including the Dutch newspapers Algemeen Dagblad and Het Parool, VPRO’s Bureau Buitenland on Dutch public radio and the Belgian daily De Morgen. She is the author of Dit Is Amerika (‘This Is America’), published by Hollands Diep and nominated for the 2021 Brusse award for the best book in journalism in Dutch. Komt Een Olifant Bij De Rechter (‘An elephant goes to court’), a book about animals in New York City, was published in the fall of 2023.
